Sarah's Pilates Journey

I fell in love with yoga while I was a student at Brown University. After  graduation, I got certified in Kripalu Yoga and, later, Anusara-style  Hatha Yoga. I spent a decade teaching all levels of yoga to all kinds of  New Yorkers, privately and in gyms throughout the city.

At one of those gyms, I happened upon a boxing class. Soon I was  competing, winning the NYC Golden Gloves and Empire State Games. I went  on to work as a ringside journalist and to coach at NYC Cops and Kids, a  free community gym in Flatbush.

I took up Pilates to recover from overuse injuries sustained during  fighting and strength training. My teacher Clarice Marshall taught me  the value of slowing down and connecting. I was certified in machine and  mat Pilates at the Kane School in NYC and have since taught privately  and at American Ballet Theatre’s JKO School. I love turning my students  on to the joys of therapeutic movement.
