Our 3rd birthday!
Dear Knockouts,
Please come celebrate our third business birthday. We couldn't have done it without you, our incredible community!
Join us for snacks and good company at the studio on Saturday, September 20th, from 2-5 PM.
In our third year…
We taught over 1000 private sessions, 60 duets, 50 semiprivates, and 20 mat classes. One tenth of our sessions were free or sliding-scale offerings.
We had a blast participating in local events like Gowanus Open Studios, where we gave out free turbo sessions and met so many new faces. Mark your calendars for this year's event on October 18th & 19th!
Sarah teamed up with our friends at Principles Coffee Shop for a free breathing and chanting workshop. Lesley and Nicole Sabella (The Nourished Dancer) offered a restorative retreat, City Calm, where we rolled, released, breathed, and chilled out before the holiday season.
Lesley took Pilates on the road to Pure Movement and Downstage Dance where she taught Pilates and conditioning to enthusiastic young dancers.
Our Park Pilates series completed its third year, bringing us so much joy as we moved together under the trees.
We continued our commitment to education, completing workshops on Size-Affirming Movement with Fat Body Pilates; Foot and Ankle Rehab with Integrated Kinetic Neurology; Pilates for Neurological Conditions with the Neuro Studio; Pilates for Scoliosis at the Movement Study; and Kettlebell Training, Sandbag Training, and Exercise Prescription with DVRT Fitness. We took classes with our mentor Clarice Marshall and online with Sofia Engleman at Queer Body Pilates. Sarah attended the final restorative yoga class taught by Bobby Clennell, who retired from the Iyengar Institute of New York at 82 years young.
As if this weren't enough, we also starred on Broadway. Sort of. Eagle-eyed Nina tipped us off to the KO postcard prominently displayed in the hit show John Proctor is the Villain. We have no idea how it got there, but we love it. Many thanks to our fabulous designer, Gillian Macleod, for creating a logo worth putting center stage and for our fresh new website design.
We both continued the great balancing act of caring for our families, ourselves, and our business. Lesley welcomed baby Meyer into her family.
And Sarah’s mother got kicked out of hospice for being too healthy.
We remain grateful to our incredible renters, AM and Erin, for sharing their gifts of Pilates and physical therapy with our community, and to our next-door-neighbor Alia for including Sarah as a coach in her superb online movement community The MOB.
This back-to-school season, we look forward to resuming our work with the young dancers of American Ballet Theatre’s JKO School, and to seeing all of you back in the studio!
Stay tuned for more updates, including a new teacher on the schedule, Gowanus Open Studio hours, and recorded class offerings!
Love,
Lesley & Sarah
